A dispute that allegedly escalated into deadly violence resulted in a double-homicide arrest in Bradenton in early October.
According to the Bradenton Police Department, Jakourtney Johnson, 34, was arrested October 1, 2026, in connection with the September 22 shooting deaths of Antonio Rosario, 30, and Willie Stubbs Jr., 43.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of 12th Avenue East shortly after 6 p.m. on September 22. Both victims were found with gunshot wounds. Rosario died at the scene, while Stubbs died while being transported to a hospital.
According to the arrest affidavit described by police, witnesses reported that an ongoing dispute among the three men preceded the shooting. Investigators allege that Johnson fired several shots during the confrontation.
Johnson was charged with two counts of second-degree murder with a firearm. Police said he had been taken into custody several days earlier on unrelated outstanding narcotics warrants before detectives connected him to the homicide investigation.
Why this case stands out: The investigation illustrates how an arrest initially associated with unrelated warrants can lead detectives to a much more serious criminal investigation.
