Why do so many politicians make it obvious that they are running for office so they can get a pay raise? These politicians run for office claiming they are on a crusade to help the citizens of their county. Too often it becomes evident that their campaign claims were just fodder to fool the voters.

It has been rumoured that newly elected county commissioner, Bob McCann has been requesting help from other elected officials to get himself appointed to a position in the Trump administration. Sources are telling the Manatee Herald that McCann has requested help from Congressman Steube and Congressman Buchanan to get appointed to the Washington bureaucracy.

Please understand that Bob McCann was elected to the Manatee County Commission on November 5th. McCann was sworn into office 14 days later on November 19th. During this two week period while he was awaiting his swearing in to office, McCann supposedly began lobbying for an appointment to a bureaucratic post in Washington, DC.

What kind of person runs for office and before he is even sworn in attempts to find a better job as a DC bureaucrat? One person raised the question of whether McCann used county resources to help find himself a job.

Sadly, too many politicians show contempt for the taxpayers by revealing that their true focus is on making themselves wealthier. Maybe Manatee County needs a moratorium on politicians that are focused on feathering their own nests.
