Press Release From The Office Of Palmetto Mayor Shirley Bryant

This office received notification Tuesday November 28, 2023
regarding the dismissal of litigation filed by Lincoln Memorial
Academy, Eddie Hundley, et al against the City of Palmetto, the
School District of Manatee County and the Commissioner of
Education. According to the dismissal notification, the case was
dismissed with prejudice as to the City of Palmetto and the
School District of Manatee County. As I understand it, “with
prejudice” means that the case is final and may not be
resubmitted.

I am gratified that the 11 th Circuit has upheld the district court’s
decision, and the judiciary remains the bulwark against
litigation that is totally without merit. I will continue to serve
the community doing what I know is right while being fiscally
responsible on behalf of our taxpayers.
