Manatee Commissioners Outline County Concerns as 2022 Legislative Session Begins

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Jan. 11, 2022) — Making the needs of Manatee County citizens known — in no uncertain terms — all seven commissioners combined their voices for a message to the Florida Legislature.

In a short video seen below, Manatee County Commissioners ticked off a list of several top-priority projects they’re hoping to see gain support from the 120 members of the Florida House of Representatives and 40 Florida Senate members. While the video is being distributed to lawmakers in Tallahassee, the message is also being shared with local media and residents.

“If you’re a citizen, I encourage you to reach out to your local and state representative in support of these measures that will improve your quality of life,” said Commission Chair Kevin Van Ostenbridge.

From the closure of Piney Point to widening of Moccasin Wallow Road, the Manatee Agenda also includes further funding of child welfare programs, infrastructure enhancements, environmental regulation and bridge replacement.

The 2022 session of the Florida Legislature begins today and runs for the next sixty days.
