Buccaneers switch things up on Day 3 of camp

Thermostats have been hitting triple digits in Tampa in certain parts of the day. Air conditioning systems throughout the Bay Area have been working overtime and so has the Buccaneers training staff in efforts to keep players hydrated in camp thus far. Although it’s always ridiculously hot at the training facility, this summer has felt much hotter.

Head coach Bruce Arians said Monday the team has been “giving in to the heat” as practices have been sluggish as it winds down. But the team took a different approach Tuesday and went into the indoor practice facility to simulate halftime during games.

Team reporter Scott Smith shared Arians’ words following Tuesday’s practice.

Tampa Bay players had to have been grateful for the decision while the coaching staff appears to have been undoubtedly pleased with the results they saw today. Consistency in the Florida heat will allow players to reach conditioning faster but the staff seems to be willing to throw them a bone in an effort to get better play out of them on the practice fields.
