Young Americans are dealing with more mental health issues during an era where we have more tools for dealing with mental health. We as a country have brought “mental health experts” into the mainstream and given them much more say in how we raise our kids. These experts are given positions of authority in determining school curriculum. In spite of all the mental health “help,” we have “raised the loneliest, most anxious, depressed, pessimistic, helpless, and fearful generation on record” according to Abigail Shrier, author of Bad Therapy, Why The Kids Aren’t Growing Up. Why is this?

Could it be that the mental health organizations that so many people trust are complete failures.

We need to take a look at some of the issues that mental health organizations have deemed important.

The American Psychological Association (APA) has recently railed against systemic racism. Shrier quoted the CEO of  APA, who said: “Our nation is in the midst of a racism pandemic.” The APA constantly supports affirmative action and is often telling its members about the horrors of climate change. This follows a long trend of establishment medical organizations supporting leftist social issues. Often, these groups are dominated by leftist Democrats and focus on leftist issues while ignoring medical issues they should be addressing.

With the American Psychological Association so willing to speak out on many social issues, would it not have been important for the APA to speak out against the Democrats forcing the isolation of school children for 2 years during the recent Covid pandemic? It did not take a genius to determine that keeping children and teenagers in isolation from a virus that did not have a serious impact on their health was a bad idea. Yet the supposed experts on mental health, the APA, did not push back at all against the Democrat rules that isolated these young people.

The results have been disastrous for young people. Americans should be wary of taking any advice from these supposed mental health experts in the future because they failed our young people so badly.

This was an easy issue for the psychologists and counselors to get right. Their failure to speak up gives evidence that they don’t “follow the science.” Instead they follow the leftist agenda of school unions and ignore the welfare of students. Millions of school children suffered as a result of this nightmare.

In a time when we look at measurables, we see more children getting professional treatment for anxiety, yet we do not see improvement from year to year.

In cancer treatment we see tremendous improvements in the outcomes of treatment for patients due to advances in treatment. We see no such improvements in the mental health numbers of our young people.

It is time to question the treatment or lack of treatment that is taking place by the organizations that are more concerned with being “woke” than helping their patients.
