Donald Trump: He’s like a neighbor’s dog that constantly barks and always disturbs the peace. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has produced another segment in the TrumpWorld soap opera that never goes away and is an embarrassment to our country. This prosecution appears to be a political hit, but I reserve judgment until I have read the indictment.

This never ending saga continues while we are still dealing with Trump’s attempt to overturn the Georgia election results and his lax treatment of classified documents at Mar-A-Lago. Remember when Georgia Governor Brian Kemp refused to follow Trump’s directive to overturn the election results, Trump turned on him and as a result we lost the two US Senate races in Georgia and handed control of the Senate to Chuck Schumer. Do you remember when Trump pushed Herschel Walker as the Republican Senate candidate in the Georgia election last year? The result was another two years with Schumer in charge and Biden appointing liberal judges.

The frustration with many Republicans is the fact that so many of Trump’s problems are self-inflicted. Trump constantly behaves like a dictator who believes he can do anything he likes and get away with it. In 2016, Trump joked  at Dordt College that “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any votes, OK? Reminds me of a certain Russian President named Putin.

The reality is that Trump has lost voters and is continuing to lose the support of independent voters. Trump lost to Biden by more than 7 million votes after losing to Hillary by 2.8 million votes. Biden and Hillary were the two worst Democrat candidates in 40 years and  Trump still performed poorly.

We must remember that what DA Bragg is prosecuting Trump for stemmed from Trump’s tryst with a porn star. It is apparent that this was not Trump’s only sexual dalliance. He did not exhibit any self-control or any fidelity in his previous marriages.

Is this really who the Republican Party needs to represent its interests? Republicans are currently protesting at school board meetings because of immoral reading material that is used in the classrooms. Yet many of these same Republicans pledge their loyalty to Trump who has the morals of an alley cat.

How can our party have any credibility on moral and ethical issues when our “leader” is ethically challenged.

Look around our great country. There are many Republican leaders who live in an ethical and moral manner. These leaders exercise self-control and can appeal to independent voters who are needed to win an election.

Give Trump the Republican nomination and you may feel good until November 5th, 2024. Then a Democrat will be elected President and will begin to shape the Supreme Court and the 1st and 2nd Amendments will be eroded and abortion will become legal any time during a pregnancy.

Will supporting your favorite moral degenerate in a red hat be worth that?
