Across America, the public is getting fed up with our public school system. Recent polls show that our country’s K-12 school systems have reached a new low in the percentage of people that are somewhat satisfied with the systems. Ironically, the lack of public approval has no bearing on the education cartel that controls the school systems. This education cartel is composed of teachers unions and Democrat politicians that thrive despite a record of failure at educating our children.
The scam is a simple con game the Democrats pull on the public. The Democrat politicians continue to give more money to teachers and their union supervisors and the unions and their teachers continue to elect Democrats that continue to send more taxpayer dollars to the teachers without any positive impact on the children.
The American public has started to see through this con game because every day we are becoming aware of the failure of the education establishment to graduate students with basic life skills. We recently became aware of a University of California, San Diego faculty report that found a huge increase in freshman college students whose math skills were below high school levels. This is a result of teachers and their unions agreeing to push students through the school systems without educating them.
This tragedy is truly a classic example of child abuse. The public is told by Democrat politicians that more money will improve our public school systems. The gullible public agrees and the teachers and their unions profit while test scores of students plummet. Imagine if a corporation continued to pour money into a product that was defective. The Board of Directors of the company would be sued and removed.
The teachers unions refuse to allow any reform to take place. They repeatedly refuse to allow any standards that would hold teachers accountable. The unions allow leftist teachers to force their social views on naive students. While test scores drop they yell and scream at protests that they deserve more money.
Democrat controlled states are consistently the worst states for student outcomes. The Democrat politicians have entered into a Faustian bargain with the unions that ensures that the Democrats receive hundreds of millions of dollars from the teachers and their unions and the teachers never have to worry about being held accountable for their actions and failure to produce graduates with the necessary life skills.
The most interesting part is that the Democrat politicians like David Jolly understand the reality of the failure of the public schools and they send their children to private schools.
This sad reality is why a majority of working Americans support the school voucher programs that allow their children to be rescued from the failing public schools and be given a chance to attend schools that are not controlled by the unions.
Democrats like David Jolly and Kelly Kirschner tell voters they will improve our public school systems. What they are really saying is they will pump more money into the system without demanding any accountability. If they were elected, test scores would drop and the students would be the losers.
