Trump Has Helped Change America For The Better

It is easy to  grow tired of listening to the Democrats and their local media outlets lament about the shortcomings of the Trump administration. They are loath to give Trump any credit for the positive changes in our country. 

Jim Geraghty recently opined in National Review about some of the major issues that have been improved in our country. 

The first positive point is the fact that Islamic terrorism has had a de minimis impact inside our country. The Trump administration has been aggressive around the world in cutting off the lifeline that terrorists use to survive. With the help of Israel, Iran has been put on its heels and Syria is no longer a conduit for Iran to arm terrorists. Hezbollah has been severely damaged inside Lebanon. The Trump administration has quietly attacked terrorist breeding grounds around the world and it has curtailed terrorist attacks. 

Another bright spot is the decrease in violent crimes in our country. The Council on Criminal Justice (CJC) reports that the 2025 homicide rate will be at its lowest level since 1900. Some of this can be attributed to the Trump administration’s focus on deporting criminals. Illegal immigrants outside of New York, California and Illinois know that if they are arrested for violent crimes, they will probably be deported. 

Drug overdoses are declining. Drug deaths from overdoses were 105,000 nationwide in 2023 and this year the number is predicted to be 68,000. Part of this is attributable to Trump closing the southern border that Democrats had left wide open. 

Another bright spot is the rise in Americans that are surviving cancer. According to Geraghty, one out of every 18 Americans is a cancer survivor. Many more people are getting diagnosed earlier with cancer because of advances in testing. This is allowing more people to survive. The American Cancer Society states that 7 in 10 people survive their cancer for 5 years or more. The survival rate 50 years ago was half that rate. 

I know I am repeating myself but don’t forget that the border with Mexico has been closed. This fact belies the assertion that the Democrats made that closing the border was impossible. Democrats purposefully opened the southern border and allowed people to surge into our country. We have experienced multiple societal problems because of this surge. Democrats said the problem was unsolvable but Trump solved the problem in 3 months.

Another bright spot is the fact that the mortality rate from traffic accidents has dropped to record lows. There are several factors that contributed to the lower deaths from traffic accidents. One contributing factor is that many states have stopped giving licenses to illegal aliens. One researcher determined that when states gave drivers licenses to undocumented immigrants, the fatality rate from car accidents increased 5%. Anecdotally, it is apparent that undocumented immigrants drive much slower in states that do not allow them to obtain drivers licenses. The reason is the driver knows that an accident or traffic citation can lead to their deportation.

No era is perfect but the Trump era has brought many positive changes to our country. Ignore the Facebook mafia and online Democrat papers that constantly opine about the evils of Trump. Just imagine if Kamala had fooled the public and been elected.
