Despite the backroom shenanigans of the social media fringe groups in Manatee county, Melton Little went down to defeat in his quest to be nominated for the State Representative position vacated by Will Robinson. Little, a slip and fall attorney, had spent decades pushing a leftist Democrat agenda.
Little worked hard with the trial lawyers to defeat tort reform that was implemented to lower the cost of insurance for working Manatee citizens. Unfortunately for Little, he could not outrun his past which included being suspended by the Florida Bar for unethical behavior.
The local fringe groups welcomed Little because he claimed he would oppose development. We have all had to learn in our past to be careful who you choose to endorse because it can lead to supporting some questionable candidates.
One of the most important principles of business is protecting your brand. Good companies protect their brand by not allowing outsiders to co-opt their brand. The Democrat Party has allowed the Democrat Socialists of America to co-opt their brand in many states. The Republican Party of Florida was aware that many Democrats and left leaning independents were attempting to co-opt the Republican brand. Republicans in Manatee county saw through the attempted con job of pretending Little was a conservative Republican.
Jordan Varnadore will represent our county well in Tallahassee. He will look out for the taxpayers.
Melton Little will doubtless run again for public office. Melton wants to be in the parade so bad he will put on anyone’s costume.
