Democrat genius, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), recently embarrassed herself on the international stage when she was asked for her thoughts (no pun intended) on whether the United States should protect Taiwan if it was attacked by China. AOC was in attendance at the Munich Security Conference where representatives from many nations were discussing the new relationship between the United States and Europe. This conference was reputed to be a place where AOC could show the world her knowledge of international affairs.
AOC has never had to rush to her mailbox to look for an invitation to join the Mensa Society. Nevertheless, a high IQ has never been a prerequisite for running for Congress. The problem is that AOC thinks she can run for President of the United States.
While Americans will elect Congressional representatives that lack mental acuity, they expect their national leaders to make sense when they speak on the international level.
Joe Biden, in the final years of his Presidency, was not as sharp mentally as he had been in his earlier career. AOC does not have the excuse of “old age” to blame for her incompetence. Her answer to the question regarding Taiwan was so juvenile and incomprehensible that it made Kamala Harris seem like Albert Einstein.
In another moment of mental sharpness, when AOC was questioned about the US arrest of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela, she said that the military action probably was initiated because Venezuela is south of the equator. She was implying that President Trump looked down on South America. AOC was surprised to learn that Venezuela is actually north of the equator.
AOC may be a successful politician but she has limited intellectual capabilities. She might be a successful New York representative but she would be boxing above her mental weight class on the national stage.
