Jimmy Carter has been described as an amiable man who served as President. The truth is, he was a President who dithered over the details and left the United States in an economic decline.
One famous story is that Carter would get involved in scheduling use of the White House tennis courts. He was an example of a person with high intelligence but zero street smarts and common sense. Carter was lost as a leader. When Carter was elected, inflation was at 5.7%. When the voters chose Reagan over him, the inflation rate was at 13.5%. For our Democrat readers, this meant that what you could buy with $100 when he took office, cost you $150 when he left office.
After the voters overwhelmingly rejected him, he began his long post-Presidency. This is where Carter became an embarrassment to the United States.
When the world was rallying around President George H. W. Bush in his response to Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, Carter injected himself into the process. Traditionally, former Presidents remain detached from the foreign affairs and allow the sitting President to handle issues that arise. Carter, in his arrogance, interjected himself into the process over and over again. He directly contacted members of the UN Security Council in order to hurt President HW Bush’s attempts to garner world support for expelling Saddam Hussein from Kuwait. This was an unprecedented meddling from a former President.
In the Middle East, Carter was a blathering idiot. He befriended Yasser Arafat, a terrorist leader who refused to accept a peace plan that Clinton had negotiated with Israel.
In 2015, Carter befriended Hamas when they were firing missiles at Israelis. Carter told the world that Hamas was a “party of peace.”
This sums up Carter: a Sunday school teacher who was a leftist lackey who consistently gave support to the terrorists or strongmen of the world. Kim Il-sung, the notorious dictator of North Korea, used Carter’s interference to hide his development of nuclear weapons.
In the Middle East, Carter visited Hafez al-Assad in Syria and never spoke about the torture that Assad used on his citizens. Carter then drove across the border into Israel and berated Israel for human rights violations. Carter was the guiding light for the college students who chant “Death to Israel” on our college campuses.
Carter cloaked himself in the sheepskin of a Sunday School teacher. We would have been better off with a Satan worshipper than Carter’s behavior as an ex-President.
Carter had none of the class that Bush, Sr., Clinton, Obama and Bush, Jr exhibited in their post-Presidency careers. He was an embarrassment to our country. He was the Neville Chamberlain of his time. A man who fell head over heels for whatever the evildoers of the world told him.
Carter will only be missed on the world stage by evil despots.
