President Biden, when he is cognizant, loves to talk about the need for the rich to pay their “fair share” of taxes. He, or rather his handlers, seem to imply that the “poor” are paying a higher share of taxes than the rich. If that is the case, it would not be right. The reality is that Biden is lying.
The IRS released data that revealed that the top 1% of Americans reported 26% of the country’s adjusted gross income, yet they paid 46% of total income taxes.
Let me repeat that statement for our Manatee Democrats: The top 1% of Americans reported 26% of the country’s adjusted gross income, yet paid 46% of total income taxes.
We just celebrated Easter and the Gospels teach us that Christ said we should “render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.” We have a moral duty to pay our taxes. The Bible also warns us to “not bear false witness.” Methinks Biden is bearing false witness when he implies that the wealthy don’t pay their fair share of taxes.
Let’s examine some more data. The bottom half of income earners had 76 million tax returns and had gross income up to $46,000. In 2021, they earned 10% of the country’s total income while paying 2.3% of all income taxes while paying an average tax rate of 3.4%. For our Democrat friends, that means they did NOT pay their share of taxes. One can make the argument that they should be given a break and pay a lesser percentage of taxes. You CANNOT imply they pay their fair share of taxes.
The next tax group has 38 million tax returns and earned from $46,000 to $94,000. They had 17.5% of the nation’s income while paying 8% of the income taxes. Their average tax rate was 7.2%.
The next tax group comprised 23 million Americans that earned from $94,000 to $170,000. They reported 19% of the income while paying 13% of taxes with a tax rate of 10%.
These numbers can be a bit dull to read but they give evidence that the wealthy pay far more than their “fair share” while the poor pay far less than their fair share.
The burden of income taxes falls disproportionately on the top 1% of income earners. The Democrats are lying when they imply that the wealthy do not pay their fair share of taxes.
We do not expect the Democrats to be truthful when they discuss the nation’s tax structure. Fortunately for them, their voters are easily deceived.
