Do Not Let The Manatee Democrats Turn Our County Into Chicago

Chicago is a wasteland that even the most jaded political observer can admit. Crime is out of control and  law-abiding citizens now fear for their lives. It was not always this way. Chicago was for years a melting pot of ethnic refugees from Europe. The people were hard working and they had crime but it was not out of hand. Slowly but surely, the political power shifted to the Democrats who believed that the police were evil and laws were inherently racist.

Chicago is a cautionary tale for Bradenton and Manatee County. Our local Democrat Party, the League of Women Voters and the local Planned Parenthood organization all support the viewpoints that led to the disaster that now defines Chicago. 

Interestingly, the Governor of Illinois, Pritzker, a trust fund baby who has overseen the destruction of Chicago, is contemplating a run for the Presidency.

As the United Van Lines trucks clog up traffic with people moving south, politicians like Pritzker and the recently elected mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, continue to smile and say there is nothing to worry about. It reminds me of the stories of the security guards in the Twin Towers on 9/11 who told the office workers to go back to their offices and everything would be OK! 

Recently, a veteran Chicago prosecutor quit his job  and sent a letter to his colleagues. Jason Poje sent a letter to his fellow prosecutors blaming the “popular political agenda” as the reason Chicago is such a dangerous place for all of its citizens. 

Poje wrote: “The simple fact is that this state and county have set themselves on a course to disaster. And the worst part is the agency for whom I work has backed literally every policy change that had the predictable outcome of more crime and more people getting hurt.”

He continued: “Bond reform designed to make sure no one stays in jail while cases are pending with no safety net  to handle more criminals on the street, shorter parole periods, lower sentences for repeat offenders, the malicious and unnecessary prosecution of law enforcement officers, overuse of diversion programs, intentionally not pursuing prosecutions for crimes lawfully on the books after being passed by our legislature and signed by a Governor (Pritzker), all these so-called reforms have a direct negative impact with consequences that will last for a generation.”

Poje said the last straw was hearing gunfire in his neighborhood that had once been a safe place. Poje noted that many people do not have the means to escape these unsafe situations. 

This is what would happen in Bradenton and Manatee County if we allowed the local Democrat Party to have control. These same policies that have turned Chicago rancid are the same policies endorsed by the Manatee Democrat Party and the Manatee County NAACP. Several online local newspapers have columnists that endorse these policies. 

Remember, all the policies that have ruined Chicago began as attempts to help members of the minority communities that were being disparately impacted by our criminal code. From President Biden to Chuck Schummer to Hakeem Jeffries to the Manatee County Democrat Party and the League of Women Voters, they have all expressed their support for the policies that are ruining cities across our country.

We must NEVER allow our local Democrat Party to have control because they will follow lock-step with the policies that seem kind-hearted but lead to misery.
