Fire Chief’s Corner, City of Bradenton, Chief Tim Geer, May 24 2022

The wait is over! A small grand opening ceremony for our new Station 3 was held on May 23. It was a celebration and testament to everyone involved in this process of seizing our vision. and bringing it to fruition. We are also pleased to welcome our newest apparatus, a Pierce Enforcer – E431, to Station 3. During the grand opening, the E431 was a part of a traditional “push in” ceremony.

The tradition dates back to the late 1800s when fire departments used horses to pull a fire apparatus to fires. After fighting the fire, crews would wash and ready the horses and the apparatus for the next call, then they would push the apparatus into the station’s bay. We will host a public open house event at a later date to welcome the community to their newest fire station.
