BPD honors two with Life Saving awards

BPD Chief Melanie Bevan and Mayor Gene Brown were honored last week to present two more Life Saving awards, this time to Officer Jason Nuttall and Officer Jared Mincemeyer.

Ofc. Nuttall administered Narcan to a man he found unresponsive, and then, in a confined space, he improvised and administered CPR one-handed for approximately four minutes. He was able to revive the man, who has expressed his appreciation for Ofc. Nuttall’s efforts and has enrolled in a recovery program with Centerstone.

On the Skyway Bridge, Ofc. Mincemeyer encountered a man who was considering jumping from the top of a van that was pulled over to the side of the road. Ofc. Mincemeyer was able to talk the man down from the van, and the man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.  Because of Ofc. Mincemeyer’s quick actions and calm manner, he saved the man from committing suicide.

Congratulations to you both, Ofcs. Nuttall and Mincemeyer, and thank you for your service!
