Myakka City Fire Control looking for commission applicants to fill short period until merging with East Manatee Fire District

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (July 28, 2021) – Myakka City Fire Control District, soon to merge with East Manatee Fire District, is accepting applications for two fire commission seats to serve in official capacities until the merger is completed on Oct. 1.

Applications are due Aug. 6 and can be found online at www.mymanatee.org/advisoryboards

The Fire Board oversees the fire district with the authority to spend money, incur debt and hire qualified fire personnel. Myakka City Fire Control District is scheduled to dissolve and become part of East Manatee on Oct. 1. The Myakka City Fire seats, including these two positions, will not continue after the merger.

The Fire District is located east of County Road 675 and extends easterly to the Desoto and Hardee county lines. The District responds to more than 500 emergency calls annually, covering an area of 230 square miles.

Myakka residents may inquire as to seat and residency requirements by contacting Myakka City Fire Chief Dan Cacchiotti at (941) 322-6525 or email him at dpcacchiotti@myakkafire.org.
