Ex-Patriot thinks player’s ordeal shows Bill Belichick lost control

Is there anything Tom Brady can’t do?

The 43-year-old quarterback led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl title last season. Now the superstar revealed he played the whole year with a torn MCL in his left knee, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Brady reportedly suffered the injury late in the 2019 season with the Patriots, though the injury progressively worsened with Tampa Bay. Brady played in all 16 regular season games and four postseason matchups, not once appearing on an injury report.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion underwent surgery on his knee in February.

“It was an injury I dealt with really since last April, May,” Brady said in June during Tampa Bay’s mandatory minicamp. “I knew I would have to do something at the end of the year, and happy I did it, and it was probably something that needed to be done, and there was a great outcome, so I’m very happy about that.

“I feel like there’s some things I’ll be able to do this year that I wasn’t able to do last year.”

Brady, who will be 44 on Aug. 3, threw for 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns last season, showing no ill effects of the injury.

“I don’t think he was 100 percent last year,” Buccaneers quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen said in June. “[Brady’s] quote, or close to a quote, was, ‘Hey, I’m gonna get my knee fixed up and I’m gonna be better next year and you’re gonna be excited about that.’ ”

Brady will first get a chance to showcase a fully healthy version of himself in a game that counts during Tampa Bay’s season opener on Sept. 9 against Dallas.
