According to producers, Omer Majid trespassed into the property, and was removed immediately after finding a way past the tight security protocols. It’s also worth noting that the contestants are in a closely controlled COVID-secure bubble amid the pandemic.
According to the report, he did not actually come into contact with the contestants. Security is now being ramped up on the show to prevent any future break-in attempts.
“Last night a security breach was identified and an intruder was removed from the villa with immediate effect. The safety of both our islanders and our production crew remains our primary concern. As part of our stringent COVID safety measures, the Villa area that was trespassed has been fully deep cleaned before being made accessible again to the islanders and crew,” the show said in a statement.
According to The Sun, which obtained footage apparently streamed live on Instagram, someone is heard saying “you’re trespassing” as the prankster is being escorted from the premises.
Omer Majid later told the Daily Star he found his way in “via the trees and hills. They spotted my cameraman and told him to get out I then ran for the villa and called my friend so he could put me back on the live stream… They put code red on which meant locking everybody up that was cast.”
At the same time, the latest season of the US version of the show just launched this week.
