F9 is huge!
The ninth installment in the Fast & The Furious film franchise zoomed right to the top spot at the box office over its opening weekend, Variety reported Sunday (June 27).

The film opened to a massive $70 million across over 4,000 North American venues, making the biggest start for a film at the U.S. box office amid the pandemic era.
The previous record was held by A Quiet Place Part II, opening to $48.3 million in its first weekend outing.
The film also opened bigger than 2019 spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, which generated $60 million in its opening weekend.
In the movie, Vin Diesel returns as Dominic Toretto, as well as John Cena, who stars as his brother Jakob, Mia (Jordana Brewster), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Tej (Ludacris), Roman (Tyrese) and Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) – and even a cameo from Cardi B as Leysa.
