(AP) – Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is rebuffing calls for an emergency declaration to address a red tide outbreak in Tampa Bay that’s killed hundreds of tons of fish and other marine life. Environmentalists, Democrats and local leaders have pushed Desantis to declare an emergency. DeSantis said the state has the money to address the problem and that declaring an emergency would hurt local businesses and Florida tourism in general.
