President Trump has declared war on DEI in our country but leftists who permeate the educational establishment are fighting back and continuing to corrupt our scientific research.

Anna Krylov, a chemistry professor at the University of Southern California, recently announced that she was terminating her professional ties with Nature Portfolio’s journals because of their obsession with DEI. Nature Portfolio is one of the world’s leading science publishers. Most important scientific research is released to the public through scientific journals.

Krylov wrote that Nature Portfolio has “sacrificed the epistemic standards of scientific publishing in unrelenting pursuit of a social justice agenda centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion.” Krylov asserts that this shift leftward has caused Nature Portfolio to lose “its credibility as a truth seeking enterprise.”

In an October 8th editorial, Nature Reviews Psychology urged scientists to counteract Trump’s anti-DEI efforts by voluntarily demonstrating their “commitment to DEI.” The editorial urged writers to “cite publications from a diverse group of researchers.”

In 2022,  Nature Human Behavior editorial noted that research may inadvertently be “discriminatory, racist, sexist, ableist, or homophobic.” It noted that as a result, scientifically sound research should be rejected if it could cause harm to a particular group.

This ideological capture of research institutions is antithetical to why we have established research institutions. The pursuit of science should not be required to find outcomes that are acceptable to different social values. We cannot allow these leftist ideologues to harm our society by doctoring the data because some social groups might disagree with the data.

During the Dark Ages, scientists were prevented from publishing scientific discoveries that contradicted religious dogmas. We are witnessing this take place in our scientific community. Instead of following the science, the scientific establishment is attempting to tether scientists from following the science.

The Trump administration, unlike the Biden administration, is not ignoring the leftist takeover of scientific research. Our government must refuse to allow government research dollars to go to institutions that follow the DEI dogma. If we fail to stop this “Dark Ages Mentality” from capturing our scientific community, future generations will suffer. Inferior research from favored gender or racial groups will not advance science but will lead to mediocrity.
