For decades, Democrat politicians, in blue states, have given billions of taxpayer dollars to help the homeless. These same politicians have refused to put in guardrails to prevent the money from being wasted or fraudulently spent by individuals or non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Often these were used to pay the salaries of employees who were shipped across the region to protest against any of Trump’s policies.

This Democrat scam of homeless funds is now under attack by the Trump administration. Just a few months ago, the Democrats began screaming about all the damage the DOGE group was causing because Trump was trying to eliminate waste fraud and abuse in the federal budget. There is a reason Democrats oppose audits of government spending. They realize the fraud and abuse will be uncovered and the taxpayers will revolt.

In California, Governor Newsom has a track record of refusing to audit government spending on homelessness. Over the past few years, Democrats in California have spent $24BILLION to address the homelessness issue. You would think that spending that much money would reduce homelessness. WRONG! Homelessness has increased in California during the time this money was spent.

California has nine state agencies involved with the homeless issue. The California Interagency Council on Homelessness (Cal ICH) is responsible for tracking how the money is spent.

Grant Parks, an auditor with the state of California admitted that California “lacks current information”on the costs and outcomes of its homeless programs because the Cal ICH has not tracked and evaluated the programs.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what happens when you have government funding with no oversight. Basically, a green light is given to those who wish to take government funds by fraudulent actions.

President Trump realized that Gavin Newsom and the California Democrats were not interested in guarding the taxpayer’s money. Trump knew he had to do an end-around to protect the taxpayers. He appointed Bill Essayli as the acting US Attorney for the Los Angeles area.

Essayli and the FBI sent up a Homelessness Fraud and Corruption Task Force to uncover the people who are stealing from the taxpayers under the guise of “helping the homeless.” It did not take long to find corruption.

Cody Holmes was the CFO of a Los Angeles based developer of affordable housing. Holmes was arrested for fraudulently obtaining $26 million in grant money. Holmes allegedly inflated bank records in his application in order to show he had the capacity to build the housing units. When he received the taxpayer funds, Holmes paid off his credit card debt for luxury purchases he had made.

This is just the “tip of the iceberg” in the fraud that has been going on in California regarding the billions spent on homelessness. The only reason the fraud is being exposed is because Trump was elected President and he is appointing prosecutors who, unlike their Democrat counterparts, do not ignore the corruption.

The mantra of the DOGE team was to find the waste, fraud and abuse in government spending so that the taxpayer dollars would be available for those who truly need government assistance. It is sad to see the Democrats being complicit in those who continue to rip off the taxpayers.
