Bureacrats Allow Chinese Nationals In the Pentagon

If someone told you that our Defense Department was using Chinese nationals to work on the Pentagon’s cloud system, you would probably believe they were joking. No joke. It turns out that Microsoft has a government contract to provide support for the Defense department’s cloud system. In order to lower their costs, Microsoft was  hiring cheap Chinese national engineers to provide coding support for this project. 

Recognizing that they might have a national security issue, Microsoft hired “digital escorts” to monitor the work of the Chinese engineers. Most of these “digital escorts” were retired military employees. Obviously, these retired military employees were not the brightest minds in the computer science arena. The sharpest computer scientists take jobs in private industry in order to  receive higher salaries. 

There is a distinct possibility that these “digital escorts” were outmanned by the Chinese nationals. The Trump administration is concerned that these Chinese engineers may have planted trap doors in the code they developed that would allow Chinese intelligence officials to have access to US Defense department data.

When Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth became aware of this issue, he implemented changes that eliminated further use of Chinese nationals in this sensitive area. 

An investigation has been initiated to determine if any trap doors were installed by the Chinese engineers. The investigation will also determine if anyone at Microsoft has broken national security laws or regulations by allowing Chinese nationals to have this access. 

This is another example of the absurd decisions made by career bureaucrats. When you hear local and national talking heads talk about the government staffers with so much experience who are being fired by Trump officials, remember that these are the kind of decisions that these geniuses have made for decades. 

President Trump comes from an entrepreneurial background and understands that government bureaucrats focus on protecting themselves and they reflexively fight any attempt to rein in their power. Trump’s team has brought a “common sense” approach to our national discourse. Democrats will always support the bureaucrats and look at the major cities across our country where bureaucrats have ultimate control. Only a bureaucrat would allow Chinese nationals to have access to the Pentagon.

I will take the Trump team any day over experienced federal staffers.
