Last August, the voters of Manatee County made a change in our county commission makeup. In a closely contested election, several sitting commissioners were unseated. The voters were upset with traffic delays and other issues that many felt flowed from too much development.

The local Democrats joined the Republican Party to vote in the primary and help oust the most conservative commissioners. The new commission has taken a slower approach to county growth. In a sense, the will of the voters is being followed to allow the county infrastructure to catch up with our population growth.

Unfortunately, several of our commissioners, McCann and Beardon and others have fallen under the spell of the local Democrats and “Republicans” who despise our Republican Governor.

These commissioners have helped to slow down growth in development but they have refused to slow down the growth of our local government and bureaucracy. These commissioners have caught the Florida variant of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). Their malady is DDS (DeSantis Derangement Syndrome). These commissioners have fallen “hook, line and sinker” for the local online Democrat paper that despises Governor DeSantis and is also working against our President.

True Republicans know that DeSantis is a hero to us. He stood in the gap during the Biden Administration and allowed Florida to prosper. DeSantis took on the leftist university bureaucrats that our local Democrats always support. He transformed our University System.

DeSantis forced the cleanup of the Everglades after years of failure by other elected officials.

Now, suddenly, Manatee County commissioners are on a death march against our Governor and the rule of law. The local leftists are encouraging them to defy Florida statutes and enact rules the leftists support. This is the tactic the Democrats have taken for years.

As one American said: “you can’ fix stupid.” If these commissioners continue their gameplan to break the law, fine! Take your punishment and leave office.

Hopefully, most commissioners will put their focus on helping the taxpayers and stop carrying the Democrat’s agenda of bigger county government and a larger bureaucracy. Cut the budget and act like Republicans.
