Hey Hezbollah, please answer the phone. I remember back in 1983 when the US Marines were stationed in Beirut to help keep the peace among warring Lebanese political and religious factions.
The Islamic Jihad armed a truck with explosives and drove it into the barracks where the Marines were staying. 241 US soldiers were killed along with 58 French military personnel.
Since that time, Hezbollah has gained control of Lebanon and has aligned itself with Iran and has continued to destabilize the area. Hezbollah calls for the complete annihilation of Israel and its soldiers continue to fire rockets into Israel. Hundreds of thousands of Israelis have been moved from their homes because of their proximity to Lebanon’s Hezbollah fighters.
Hezbollah has been planning an attack on Israel since Hamas breached the Israeli border on October 7th. Hezbollah celebrated the murder and kidnapping of Israeli citizens and warned they would attack Israel to show their support for Hamas.
Hezbollah leadership is aware that Israeli intelligence officials are able to listen to most of their communications. In order to prevent Israelis from listening to their phone calls, Hezbollah switched their communications to pagers. Hezbollah determined that the pager system would allow them to coordinate their attack on Israel without detection by Israeli intelligence officials.
Israel was playing chess while Hezbollah was playing checkers. The Israelis predicted that Hezbollah would switch to pagers and managed to infiltrate the supply chain and supply Hezbollah the pagers that had been wired with explosives. This “Trojan Horse” attack allowed Israel to have their explosives in the pockets of the Hezbollah fighters.
The world watched as pagers and then walkie-talkies exploded across Lebanon and killed and injured many would be terrorists. Hezbollah is now attempting to figure out how their supply chain was infiltrated by the Israelis. Hezbollah is now hampered in their ability to effectively communicate with their soldiers.
Why the Palestinians cannot choose to live a successful, peaceful life is beyond most people. Their needless attempts to wipe out a small country like Israel relegates the Palestinians people to living in abject poverty. The world has grown weary of sending money to help the Lebanese and Palestinian people because they know the funds will be misused for terrorism.
The Palestinians and Lebanese could focus on educating their children so they could rise above the poverty they now experience. Instead, they focus on teaching their children to hate Jewish people.
As Golda Meir, a former Prime Minister of Israel, once said: “Peace will come to the Middle East when Arabs love their children more than they hate the Jews.”
In the meantime, will someone answer the damn phone! I’m sure there are some Marines looking down from above and smiling at what happened to Hezbollah.
