What causes Americans to believe they can get confrontational with police officers and not increase their chances of experiencing a bad outcome. Unfortunately, we see people trying to intimidate police officers and then acting shocked when the officers react.
Ashli Babbitt was inside the US Capitol building without permission on January 6, 2021. In an unfortunate chain of events, she was killed by a Capitol police officer who said that he felt threatened. You may debate the officer’s actions but you must accept the fact that Ms. Babbitt was part of a mob that broke into the Capitol building and caused hundreds of government officials and employees to fear for their safety.
Michael Brown was a teenager that ignored repeated commands from a police officer to stop advancing towards the officer. The officer was fearful and Brown ended up being shot and killed.
Renee Good decided that she could put her car in a blocking position on a Minneapolis street and ignore the commands of ICE agents. She then attempted to drive the car in the direction of an agent and was shot and killed.
This lack of common sense is too often on display by people who have been hypnotized by people with a political agenda. These three people convinced themselves that they could ignore the commands of police officers or government officials. They then acted in a way that could be interpreted by some as causing a threat.
Today, we see Democrat politicians like Governor Walz and Mayor Frey attempting to make their citizens angry at federal officials. Most of their constituents have enough common sense to know they should not attempt to physically confront government agents. However, there is a group of people that are taking their cue from these politicians and confronting federal agents in a physically threatening manner. These federal agents are carrying out their duties of arresting and removing criminals who are not citizens of our country.
Inevitably, these confrontations lead to bad outcomes that can sometimes turn deadly. Renee Good was not a saint. She was a person who thought she could ignore commands from law enforcement officers and not suffer any consequences. Sadly she was wrong. She had been badly misguided by politicians trying to avert public attention from one of the largest government fraud cases in history.
