Defund Planned Parenthood For A Healthier America

Planned Parenthood is crying “wolf” because of the congressional plan to eliminate its federal funding. In the political arena, whenever an organization loses funding in state or federal budgets, predictions of dire outcomes are promulgated throughout the mainstream media. Planned Parenthood has many friends in the mainstream media who will publish the propaganda that women across the country will have negative health outcomes as a result of the cuts in federal funds to Planned Parenthood.

During the 2022,23 fiscal year, abortions accounted for 96.9% of Planned Parenthood’s pregnancy care services. Pre-natal care, miscarriage care and adoption services account for just 3% of Planned Parenthood’s services. 

The federal funds that would have gone to Planned Parenthood in the future will not disappear. That funding will instead go to the over 8,000 women’s community health providers that exist across our country. These community based health care providers are vetted by the federal government. According to a report recently in National Review, the organizations that qualify are funded by the federal government to provide comprehensive health care to low-income underserved communities.

Rural health care clinics also provide medicare and medicaid services to rural underserved communities. The only difference is that most of these organizations do not provide abortion services. 

Money that would have gone to Planned Parenthood will go to other organizations that better use the funds for health issues. Planned Parenthood has a reputation for providing poor health care services. They focus instead on abortions. Taxpayers will be better served to invest their tax dollars into health care centers that provide quality medical care for Americans. 

Planned Parenthood can raise money from its leftist donors to support their abortion clinics. I am sure the states of California, New York and Illinois will put their state funds into Planned Parenthood clinics. That is the way that America works.
