Gazans are starving! Gazans are starving! The mainstream media continues to publish articles about the starvation of the Gazans because of Israel’s refusal to allow Hamas to take control of the border between Gaza and Egypt.
This narrative became accepted by the mainstream media when Biden’s director of USAID cited a United Nations study that proclaimed that Gazans were starving. USAID is the agency that has been exposed by DOGE as an agency that wasted hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.
An independent monitoring system has been used by the UN to determine if a famine is occurring. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification Global Initiative (IPC) has an objective standard to make the determination. According to the IPC a famine is declared when at least 20% of the households in a given area have run out of food, at least 30% of the children are actually malnourished and 2 people out of 10,000 are dying each day from starvation.
According to the IPC, Gaza did not meet the criteria to be declared as suffering a famine. In spite of this, Powers, Biden’s director at USAID, continued to declare there was a famine in Gaza.
Powers and USAID continued to seriously undercount the amount of food available in Gaza. Gaza actually had 10 times more food available on a daily basis than USAID claimed. Of course, the mainstream media continued to publish stories about starvation in China.
The media was attempting to undermine Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu, so they published unsubstantiated claims about starvation and treated them as factual. The gullible leftist professors and students at American universities repeated these false claims and continued to protest against Israel. These leftists hate Israel and have sympathy for the Hamas terrorists. The fact that they would use false assertions of starvation in Gaza should surprise no one.
The sad reality is that Americans cannot trust the mainstream media when it comes to reporting on Gaza.
