When Hurricane Beryl barrelled through the Houston area, millions of people were left without power. Hundreds of thousands of people were forced to deal with extremely hot and humid weather without the air conditioners that make Houston bearable. It has now come to light that the federal government had set aside tax dollars to help strengthen the electrical grid to prevent the very power outages that occurred.
$10.5 billion in the Bipartisanship Infrastructure Law was set aside to help strengthen the power grids across our country. Center Point Energy provides electricity for millions of people in the Houston area. Houston, because of its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, is vulnerable to hurricanes.
Center Point Energy requested $100 million from the Biden administration to help strengthen their power grid. Unfortunately, Biden and the Democrats turned them down. It seemed that Biden (or his handlers) wanted the money to go to companies in Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania where Biden was anticipating a tight Presidential race. These were swing states while Texas was a reliable Republican state.
When Hurricane Beryl hit the Houston area, the electrical grid failed and millions of people lost their power for weeks. What a shame that Biden let politics get in the way of public safety.
Democrats spend billions of tax dollars on “green energy” that is unreliable and accounts for just 2.5% of our total power supply. The failure of Democrats to invest in traditional energy supply leaves Americans vulnerable.
When was the last time you heard the Manatee Democrats concerned about strengthening our energy grid? When was the last time you heard the League of Women Voters concerned about increasing our energy independence through natural gas exploration? No! They are more concerned about a 5 foot setback rule from wetlands.
When a hurricane comes through our area or a foreign power uses hackers to shut down our power energy grid in Florida, you are not going to be concerned about a wetland setback. You are going to want your power supply to be restored and solar energy is not going to turn your air conditioner back on.
Biden and his cronies have been co-opted by leftists who will ensure through their policies that our power grid will fail. They are more concerned about keeping Kamala and the leftists happy than they are about meeting our basic needs.
