DeSantis Shows Leadership In A Crisis

Governor DeSantis has demonstrated to our state and nation his ability to respond to a crisis in a business-like manner. Hurricane Ian lashed southwest Florida with home destroying winds and inundated neighborhoods with flood waters that invaded countless homes. The destruction that resulted from the storm was truly historic.

DeSantis spent countless hours exhorting Floridians to prepare for the storm. He prepositioned countless state assets to deal with the aftermath. Once the storm passed, DeSantis showed true nonpartisan leadership by making sure that state and federal aid was used effectively. Not so with our President who mumbled incoherently about climate change and reminding everyone that no one f-cks with a Biden. Seriously, did we elect Andrew Gillum as President?

Strong leaders know how to cut through red tape and fix problems in a timely manner. The bridge to Pine Island is a perfect example. Pine Island has one bridge that provides access to the island and it was destroyed during the hurricane. DeSantis ordered the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to construct a temporary bridge ASAP. Numerous organizations worked around the clock and the temporary bridge was in place in 4 days.

DeSantis has mobilized all of Florida’s resources to make sure emergency services are available to the people affected by the storm. So often we have seen politicians talking about feeling the pain of victims but these same politicians lack the management skills to solve problems. DeSantis, however, has made sure to appoint competent people to leadership positions. These competent leaders are able to react to emergencies and effectuate change. DeSantis has also been willing to remove incompetent people from positions that they could not manage. This is something most politicians are unwilling to do.

One way to measure how effective DeSantis has been during this crisis is to hear the DEAFENING silence from the mainstream media and the Democratic Party. If DeSantis was making poor decisions, the national media would be announcing the news in banner headlines every half-hour. Remember when the national media went into sexual fantasies praising Andrew Cuomo for his leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic. This same mainstream media refuses to acknowledge the outstanding job DeSantis has done during the hurricane.

Remember this same media and local Democrats supported Andrew Gillum for Governor. Imagine if Gillum, an incompetent fraudster, had been in charge. Elections do matter and DeSantis has been the leader that our whole country needs and his actions stand in stark contrast to the bumbling, rambling behavior of our President.
