Susan Agruso spent 40 years in public education, including stints as superintendent in Long Island, a science specialist for the New York State Education Department, assistant superintendent in North Carolina, and Assessment Director for the South Carolina Department of Education.

Agruso moved to Manatee County in 2015 and has been serving on the Manatee County School District’s audit committee.

Agruso hopes to be elected to the District 2 seat in order to have better access to the district’s finances. Calling herself a “fiscal conservative,” Agruso says the Manatee County School District “can do better.”

Agruso supports Gov. Ron DeSantis’ bill to protect K-3rd grade students from gender identity education and opposes critical race theory in Manatee County schools.
