Here is the latest on Shumpert’s arrest.
TMZ reported that police responded to a potential drug violation call after TSA screeners found a plastic bag filled with a “green leafy substance.” Shumpert admitted the substance in his possession was marijuana, according to reports.
In addition to 6.12 ounces of marijuana, Shumpert is said to have had a Glock magazine and 14 9mm rounds in his possession but was not in possession of a firearm.

According to reports, Shumpert told police that he was traveling to Los Angeles to pick up his daughter and, during the process, asked officers “if there was any way he could make his flight.”
There has been no further reporting on whether or not Shumpert was represented by an attorney or whether or not he was released on bond, though he has been active on Twitter as recently as Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Shumpert, the No. 17 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, has appeared in 461 career games over 10 NBA seasons, playing a crucial role in Cleveland’s historic NBA title in 2016. He last appeared in an NBA game in February of 2021 while on a 10-day contract with the Nets.
