Quick Bit: How much money is at stake this weekend at LIV Golf Bedminster? And how much does the winner stand to gain? Sporting News has you covered.

Full Story:

LIV golfers are swimming in the dough.

The Saudi-backed tournament offers far bigger rewards than even the highest-profile golf majors. From the outside looking in, that seems to be the most pertinent reason why golfers have flocked to the upstart golf league, even amid allegations of human rights abuses by its benefactors.

The tourney begins its third event, LIV Golf Bedminster, on Friday. Hosted at the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster, New Jersey, regardless of how the event plays out, it is certain to have people talking.

But how much money is at stake this weekend? And how much does the winner stand to gain? Sporting News has you covered.

LIV Golf Bedminster purse

All eight LIV Golf events feature a $25 million purse. That’s $7.5 million more than the largest purse offered on the PGA Tour — the 2022 U.S. Open ($17.5 million).

Given the fact that the field is only 48 players (as opposed to Tour events which typically host more than 150 players), LIV golfers are not only making more money, but they’re also bringing in a higher percentage of the purse than they would on the Tour.

How much does the winner get?

The winner of LIV Golf Bedminster will pocket $4 million. That’s a cool 16 percent of the total purse.

The four players who win the team portion of the competition will also net an additional $750,000, meaning that golfers can make as much as $4.75 million at LIV Golf Bedminster.

LIV Golf Bedminster payouts 2022

While winner of LIV Golf Bedminster will claim a $4 million prize, the second-, third- and fourth-place finishers will all bring in more than $1 million.

Every participant at LIV Golf Bedminster will earn at least $120,000. Here are the projected payouts for LIV Golf Bedminster, based on the payouts of the other two LIV Golf events.

In the case of a tie, golfers will split the prize money evenly. For example, if there’s a tie for second-place, the second- and third-place finishers would each receive $1,812,500.
