Baseball fans can finally rejoice. The 2022 MLB Draft is here!
The league is already filled to the brim with young talent. But with a loaded class that features some big names and even bigger bats, this year’s MLB Draft may be the best in recent memory.
The Orioles hold the first overall pick in this year’s draft and are hoping to make it count as they look to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
So, what time do the next crop of MLB hopefuls get one step closer to their dream? Sporting News has you covered:
What time does the MLB Draft start today?
Date: Sunday, July 17
Start time: 7 p.m. ET
The 2022 MLB Draft will start at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 17.
The MLB Draft is a three-day event, so Day 1 will only feature Rounds 1 and 2.
Day 2 and 3, which will only be available on MLB.com, start at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 18 and Tuesday, July 19, respectively.
What channel is the MLB Draft on today?

The first round of the 2022 MLB Draft will be simulcast on ESPN and MLB Network. Both networks have a loaded cast of personalities who will offer analysis throughout Day 1. On the ESPN side, Karl Ravech will host alongside MLB Draft expert Kiley McDaniel. Analysts Eduardo Perez, Jessica Mendoza, Kyle Peterson and Chris Burke will offer musings on-site from Los Angeles, as will senior baseball insider Jeff Passan.
Meanwhile, MLB Network will carry the brunt of Day 1 coverage. Greg Amsinger will cover the pick-by-pick action. He’ll be joined by a rich cast of people involved in the game; Scott Braun, Lauren Gardner, Dan O’Dowd, Harold Reynolds will man their usual posts as analysts. They will also feature two of the brightest minds in college baseball, Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello and UCLA head coach John Savage. MLB Pipeline whizzes Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo, as well as Baseball America analyst Carlos Collazo, will spotlight the analytics behind the first 80 selections of the MLB Draft.
Hall of Famers Trevor Hoffman and Greg Maddux, former Angels manager Mike Scioscia, and a trio of collegiate coaches — Georgia Tech’s Danny Hall, Louisville’s Dan McDonnell and TCU’s Kirk Saarloos — will also make appearances during the broadcast.
Day 2 and Day 3 will be live-streamed exclusively on MLB.com.

The MLB Draft doesn’t have quite as many streaming options as its competitors. However, cord-cutters still can find a way to follow along with the action.
The ESPN App is streaming the first round of the MLB Draft. fuboTV is also casting the draft on its website. Meanwhile, MLB.com is the main draft hub for the next three days. Days 2 and 3 of the draft will take place solely on MLB.com.
MLB Draft 2022 order of picks in Round 1
For only the third time in team history, the Baltimore Orioles have the top pick in the draft. They’re poised to get another top prospect, one that hopes to add to the O’s loaded farm system.
The last time Baltimore had the first overall pick was 2019. That year, the Orioles took a do-it-all catcher by the name of Adley Rutschman. For general manager Mike Elias, the hope will be to secure another elite youngster as Baltimore looks to accelerate its rebuild.
