The Super Bowl 55 MVP is getting paid.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that Cooper Kupp has agreed to a three-year contract extension that will keep him with the Rams for the next five seasons. Kupp joins other star NFL receivers Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams and A.J. Brown in signing massive contract extensions this offseason.

Kupp had a historic 2021 season. He won the receiver triple crown by leading the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947) and receiving touchdowns (16). He then compiled 625 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 45 receptions in the playoffs, including the game-winning, fourth-quarter touchdown grab in the Super Bowl against the Bengals.

Kupp’s new deal will pay him $110 million total over the next five seasons, according to Schefter. The extension itself is for about $80 million over three years, with$75 million guaranteed.

The $75 million guarantee is the most given to a non-quarterback offensive player in NFL history, according to Schefter.

The average annual value over the next five years will be $22 million per season, with the extension’s AAV at $26.7 million.

According to The MMQB’s Albert Breer, the extension restructured the last two years of Kupp’s existing deal, increasing the value over those seasons.

Kupp will be under contract with the Rams through at least 2026.

How Cooper Kupp’s extension compares to other WR extensions

Some of the top wide receivers have received massive contracts this offseason. It started with Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill receiving major deals, and it continued with Stefon Diggs, A.J. Brown and now Kupp.

The 28-year-old Kupp will receive the most guaranteed money of that group, and his extension will give him the third-highest average annual value. He has the least amount of total money and years of the other four extensions.

Highest-paid WRs in the NFL

Kupp’s deal will make him, for now, one of the five highest-paid receivers in the NFL in terms of average annual value.

Hill and Adams have the two largest contracts in terms of AAV, and DeAndre Hopkins is third at $27.25 million.

By total value, Kupp’s contract is the ninth-largest over the length of the extension, but his $75 million guarantee is the largest for a wide receiver.
