Quick Bit: Chelsea look set for a busy summer of transfers following the confirmation of Todd Boehly’s buyout at Stamford Bridge and Roman Abramovich’s exit. Keep up with the latest comings and goings here.

Full Story:

Chelsea’s summer transfer plans look set to change dramatically in the coming weeks following confirmation of Todd Boehly’s ?4.25bn (EUR4.9bn/$5.33bn) purchase of the Blues.

The club previously looked set for an uncertain build up to the 2022-23 Premier League season due to Roman Abramovich’s sanctioning by the UK Government due to his alleged links with Vladimir Putin.

Abramovich’s sale has now opened up Chelsea’s ability to negotiate new contracts for existing star names and bring new faces to Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel is sent to reinforce in the coming weeks, but they could also be some big-name exits, with Romelu Lukaku linked with a return to Inter Milan and uncertainty over N’Golo Kante and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Liverpool interested in Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic

Christian Falk has confirmed that Liverpool is interested in moving for Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic, as a potential replacement for the outgoing Sadio Mane.

Rumours have swirled in recent weeks over potential arrivals at Anfield, especially since star man Mane signaled his intention to depart from Liverpool this summer after six years at the club.

Now, it looks as if Christian Pulisic could be a strong candidate to replace the 30-year-old as the Reds ramp up their interest. Jurgen Klopp has already shown his admiration for Pulisic in past media interviews, once calling the 23-year-old a “fantastic player” when quizzed in 2018 if he would like to bring the USA international to Anfield.

Klopp also has extensive knowledge of the winger from his time at Dortmund, as Pulisic was present in the youth ranks at BVB before the German coach took the reigns at Liverpool.

Chelsea are ‘favourites’ to sign Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona

Chelsea are reportedly leading the race as ‘favourites’ to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, as claimed by talkSPORT.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the Camp Nou at the end of June, signifying that he can leave the Catalan giants on a free transfer this summer. Talks have dragged on for months regarding a potential new deal for the Frenchman, however, no such agreement looks to be apparent as of yet.

Chelsea is now said to be in pole position to sign the attacker, which could prompt an extraordinary reunion with Dembele and his former coach Thomas Tuchel. The pair worked together during the 2016/17 campaign at Borussia Dortmund, winning the DFB-Pokal trophy in a successful campaign for the German side.

The Stamford Bridge club is once again able to sign players after their new ownership was approved. In the early stages of his tenure at the club, Todd Boehly, and his consortium could make a statement signing in Dembele if they can get a deal over the line.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek ‘offered’ to Inter Milan

According to La Gazetta dello Sport, Inter Milan has been ‘offered’ the chance to sign out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The Blues are said to want around ?17 million pounds for his signature, something that Inter cannot afford right now due to their financial situation. Nevertheless, the situation is ever-changing, with a loan deal also potentially being considered.

This would likely be far less complicated than any loan move to bring his teammate Romelu Lukaku back to the San Siro, whilst the wage requirements of the England international would not be a problem for the Nerazzurri.

Chelsea is ‘leading the race’ for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Jules Kounde could leave Sevilla this summer, with Chelsea believed to be ‘leading the race’ for his signature.

The Sevillians are said to be drawing up a list of replacements for outgoing central defender Diego Carlos, who will join Aston Villa when the transfer window opens.

Romano has also hinted that they could be in the market for defenders due to the possibility of Jules Kounde departing the club, with Chelsea currently in pole position to sign the 23-year-old.

Kounde would be a statement signing under the stewardship of new owners, whilst would be a long-term replacement for Antonio Rudiger who has completed a free transfer to Real Madrid.

Chelsea legend Lampard ‘wants Gallagher and Gilmour at Everton’

Ahead of his first full season in charge after narrowly steering Everton clear of relegation, Frank Lampard is said to be keen to recruit Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour from his former club.

Chelsea’s all-time top scorer, Lampard should know more than most about what to look for in an attacking midfielder – and Gallagher and Gilmour are two of the best prospects in the Premier League.

Gallagher, 22, won Player of the Season during a loan at Crystal Palace in 2021/22, earning himself an England call-up.

Gilmour was one of Scotland’s best players at EURO 2020 before a baptism of Premier League fire on loan at Norwich, where he was occasionally targeted by supporters as the Canaries suffered their latest relegation.

The man who succeeded Lampard as Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, is ready to include Gallagher in his first team, say Talksport – who also report that Lampard is hoping his legendary status at Stamford Bridge could persuade the Blues to loan him out again.

Journalist Paul Brown tells GMS that Everton are interested in both players, but says Everton has “very little chance” of snaring Gallagher unless Tuchel decides he is “nowhere near good enough” to be in his reckoning.

Chelsea target Slonina ‘cannot say no to Real Madrid’

Towering 18-year-old goalkeeper Gaga Slonina was said to have been close to agreeing a ?5m ($6.3m) move to Chelsea in March – the only snag, fatally, being the transfer embargo the Blues were operating under at the time.

Now Real Madrid have had a bid rejected for the Chicago Fire and US youth international, report MLSsoccer.com.

Judging by the words of Slonina’s agent, the Champions League winners’ interest will scupper Chelsea’s hopes of signing the ever-present for the Fire this season.

“With respect to other clubs and other offers – we’ve received many and we are gracious to those clubs – you cannot say no to Real Madrid,” says Jaime Garcia.

“We are hoping Chicago can find an agreement with Real Madrid to realise Gabriel’s dream of playing for this club.”

Premier League clubs Wolves and Southampton are also said to have been keen on Slonina, who has been called up to US senior training camps and turned down the chance to join Poland’s squad in May.

Antonio Rudiger completes Real Madrid move

Chelsea have confirmed that defender Antonio Rudiger has completed his move to Real Madrid.

The centre-back is leaving Stamford Bridge on a free transfer after five years at the club.

Rudiger made 203 appearances for the Blues, scoring 12 goals. He won the Champions League, the FA Cup, the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Romelu Lukaku transfer latest

Lukaku could be on his way back out of Chelsea this summer after an underwhelming second stint back at Stamford Bridge in 2021-22.

Belgian star Lukaku rejoined the Blues in a ?97.5m (EUR114.2m/$121.9m) from Serie A champions Inter last summer but he has failed to hit top form in west London.

Eight Premier League goals in 2021-22 tells the story of a disappointing campaign and Inter Milan are now plotting a sensational buy back for the 29-year-old.

JUN 1: Inter will open talks with Lukaku’s representatives over a potential return to Inter. As per reports from The Guardian, the Serie A giants are yet to contact Chelsea directly, but his lawyer Sebastien Ledure will now assess a possible deal.

JUN 2: La Gazzetta Dello Sport state that Lukaku has agreed to return to Inter Milan in what could be a loan deal. The report indicates that Lukaku would receive an annual salary of ?6.4million if he rejoined Inter, which is significantly lower than his current wages of ?10.2million.

JUN 3: Barcelona have Lukaku lined up if they fail in their bid to sign Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, according to Mundo Deportivo. The outlet says one of the two is likely to become Barca’s “top battering ram”.

JUN 4: Romelu Lukaku wants a return to Inter Milan if the Serie A runners-up can agree to a deal with current employers Chelsea, as claimed by Sky Sports News. The final decision on the Belgian’s future will be taken by the Todd Boehly-led consortium that has recently taken control of the West London side. Inter Milan cannot afford a permanent deal, making a loan swoop most likely.

JUN 6: According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Romelu Lukaku’s future depends on that of director Marina Granovskaia.

N’Golo Kante transfer latest

Fans favourite N’Golo Kante was linked with a move away from Chelsea prior to their change in ownership but the French star is still a potential departure.

Kante is into the final year of his Blues contract, with no progress on an extension, and Manchester United are monitoring the situation with growing interest.

Reports from The Guardian claim incoming United boss Erik ten Hag has drawn up a list of midfield targets with Kante included alongside Declan Rice and Frenkie de Jong.

JUN 1: Despite the speculation, Tuchel hailed Kante’s impact during an injury impacted season and hinted he will fight to hold on to the former Leicester City star.

“He is our key, key, key player; but key, key, key players need to be on the pitch”, as per reports from the Daily Mirror.

“He only plays only 40% of the games. So it’s maybe a miracle that we arrived in third place.

“He is our Mo Salah, he is our [Virgil] van Dijk, he is our [Kevin] De Bruyne. He is our Neymar, he is our Kylian Mbappe; he is the guy who makes the difference. We’ll do everything to solve it. I don’t blame him but it’s a concern.”

Barca star Ousmane Dembele ‘waiting on Chelsea offer’

With the financial restrictions over transfers set to be lifted, Chelsea are back in the market for new players, with Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele a potential option.

French star Dembele is out of contract at the Camp Nou next month, and despite Xavi’s determination to keep him in Catalonia, an extension is yet to be agreed with the former Borussia Dortmund.

Dembele ended the 2021-22 campaign on a high, with 13 La Liga assists in 2022, and his enduring talent could be a temptation for Tuchel to push for a reunion this summer.

JUN 1: Reports from The Metro claim Dembele is waiting on a final offer from Chelsea before making his decision. Barcelona have set a deadline for his response and a late move from the Blues could swing a deal in their favour.
