We, in our upward development of Manatee County, need a proper serviceable shelter we can be proud of. Volunteers, adopters and donors will be increased when they see a well run, state of the art shelter. We have much to gain when this promise is met! With the new construction boom and more and more people moving here, it means more pets which means we need a structure that can reflect the increased potential need.

Have you seen the completely new built Humane Society of Tampa Bay https://humanesocietytampa.org ? Or the currently all new in construction phase of the Humane Society of Pinellas? https://www.humanesocietyofpinellas.org

I am encouraging you to visit the newly completed Humane Society of Tampa Bay. I visited and did a tour. You will see all the opportunities being offered that increase income for the shelter; such as pet grooming, event rentals, birthday parties, plus vaccinations and spay neuter services, and humane education, i.e. “Paws for Literacy” that will reduce pet overpopulation and educate people on proper guardianship of their animals.

As your constituent, I am requesting that you reconsider your thoughts on this matter and honor what was promised to us. It is our tax dollars that we are asking to be spent on a completely new shelter designed to address our current and future needs in a location that a majority of people in Lakewood Ranch and Bradenton can volunteer at.

I look forward to your response.
